Crafting with the kids - our Easter bonnet reveal!

So tomorrow is the big Easter bonnet parade at nursery, so this morning bright and early we took a trip to hobbycraft for essential supplies. After a fun filled half hour of running round the aisles we were ready to buy - felt, ribbons, chickens, and hats - we managed to spend a small fortune and set off back home.

Two hats to make - one pink princess bonnet and one cowboy hat. I set to work on some felt and fabric bunny ears - the felt was a bit too thin so needed some extra support to make them stand up so i used iron-on interfacing between each layer, then attached them to a band of felt which i sewed onto elastic so it can go on (and come off) the hats easily.

with the ears made,we decorated the rest of the hats - some fabric paint, ribbons and butterflies. Each had some chickens on the top - the pink hat had a fluffy nest around them.

So here they are: ready for the parade and hopefully best in show!!

Any one else been making hats with the kids - would love to see your finished articles. Why not tweet me a link - www.twitter.com/pepperpotcrafts
